Putting the public servant
back in public service!
"To whom much is given, much is expected…it is important to make a difference.”
Words of Inspiration from parents,
Joe & Barbara Goggin
Raised in Red Wing, Minnesota, Mike Goggin learned at an early age the value of helping others and giving back to your community. Leading by example, his parents, Joe and Barbara Goggin, instilled in Mike and his siblings a deep-seated desire to serve others. So, it’s natural that Mike would use this passion for public service to run for the Minnesota State Senate in hopes of serving the residents of Senate District 21 in Goodhue, Wabasha, and portions of Dodge and Winona counties.
Following his graduation from Red Wing High School, Mike received a business degree from Gustavus Adolphus and became a manager of a small business. This experience allowed Mike to experience firsthand how finances work in the real world, and that providing exceptional customer service had a real impact on the business. “I listen to people. To be successful in anything--your job, life, or as a candidate for office--a person needs great listening skills. Receiving ideas and input from others helps me determine a course of action.” Mike furthered his education, receiving an electrical engineering degree from the University of Colorado-Denver. In 2004, Mike and his family moved back to Red Wing, and Mike is currently a certified project management professional for the Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant. “At work, I identify issues, examine information, and move forward to solve problems. This same process will help me represent the District well.”
Mike’s moral compass is the core of who he is. Integrity and honest values are the driving forces that motivate Mike. “You can say you want to make a difference or that you are an honest person. But if that’s not what people see and hear from you, it’s just talk.”
Mike and his wife, Pam, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Together they have two sons, David and Dylan. David is a recent graduate of Angelo State University in Texas where he majored in Chemistry and played baseball. Beginning Fall 2016, David will pursue a PhD from Colorado School of Mines. Dylan is a 2015 graduate of Red Wing High School and plays junior hockey for the LaCrosse Freeze. In his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family and friends. When he’s not working or campaigning, you can find Mike at his favorite place: in the stands cheering on David and Dylan.
